This program is designed to educate and inspire young leaders in our community while promoting kindness, compassion, and responsible pet ownership. We’re excited to offer your troop a fun, educational experience that aligns with our mission of helping animals in need.
Program Overview:
The Scout Patch Program is for Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and other youth groups who are looking to earn a patch while learning about animals, pet care, shelter operations, and humane education.
- Participants will engage in:
- A guided tour of the shelter
- An age-appropriate educational presentation
- Hands-on activities and discussions
- A Q&A session with shelter staff or volunteers
- Patches are awarded upon completion of the program!
Who Can Participate:
- Groups of 8 to 20 scouts (If your group is larger, please let us know so we can discuss splitting the session into smaller groups.)
- Scouts must be at least 6 years old to participate in the full program.
Scheduling & Duration:
Session Duration: Typically lasts 60–90 minutes depending on age group and participation level.
Available Days & Times:
- Weekdays (Monday–Thursday, In-Shelter): 9:30 AM – 2:00 PM
- Weekday Evening (Off-Site Only): 5:00 PM – 6:00 PM
- Thursday Evening (In-Shelter Only): 6:00 PM
- Saturdays (In-Shelter Only): 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM

Preferred Program Time and Dates:
Please select your preferred time for the Scout Patch Program. If you would like to visit the shelter in person, we currently offer Thursday evenings at 6:00 PM only. Due to weekend availability of staff and volunteers, we are not able to accommodate Sunday troop activities at this time.
Program Fees:
- $5 per participant (includes program and patch)
- Payment is due at the time of your visit.

- What to Bring:
Closed-toe shoes (required for the shelter tour) - Curiosity and a positive attitude!

- Important Notes:
This is an educational program, not a volunteer opportunity. - We strive to create a safe, fear-free environment for both people and animals. Please help us maintain a calm atmosphere by encouraging respectful behavior.
- Adult supervision is required at all times during the program.
- Groups larger than 20 scouts: Please contact us for special arrangements.
Program Availability:
- In-Shelter Visits: Available on Thursdays at 6:00 PM and Saturdays at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, 12:00 PM, and 1:00 PM.
- Off-Site Visits: Available on weekdays (Monday–Thursday) at 5:00 PM or 6:00 PM.
