Rescue Van Eliminates After-Hour Calls: Still Operates During Business Hours

The Lake Humane Society has had to suspend its after-hours on-call rescue service due to escalating costs and declining donations. The Rescue Van will still operate during normal business hours to pick up injured animals and for Humane Investigation calls. Residents that find injured animals after hours are encouraged to contact their local Police Department for assistance. Residents can also harbor the animal until the shelter re-opens the following morning but we urge great care in doing so. Remember, injured animals will often bite and residents must exercise great care when helping an animal. LHS hopes to re-instate the 24-hour on-call service in the future.
