Shelter Manager

Registered Veterinary Technician

The Registered Veterinary Technician assists the shelter veterinarians with all aspects of the treatment and care of animals at the Lake Humane Society. The RVT also provides training and support to the shelter staff, volunteers, adopters, and clients with regards to shelter medicine, disease control, and animal care. Experience in a shelter setting is preferred. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

Foster Coordinator

The Foster Coordinator facilitates the placement of shelter animals into foster homes to increase cage space within our shelter allowing LHS to save more lives.  The position is also responsible for the training, supervision and support of all volunteer foster parents. As a member of the LHS team, the Foster Coordinator may also assist in daily operations in our cat or dog area when needed. Shelter medicine and animal care experience is preferred. This position is part-time, yet requires a flexible schedule.

Animal Care Associate

Animal Care Associates have one of the most important jobs within the shelter. These essential employees are responsible for providing daily care to the homeless pets at Lake Humane Society. Dedication, self-motivation, and compassion are key components to an effective Animal Care Associate who provides love and care to animals in need. These responsibilities include: feeding, cleaning, giving medications, providing enrichment, conducting health evaluations, introducing pets to potential adopters, and more. Paid experience in working with animals is required. Availability must include daytime hours, weekends and holidays. Both full-time and part-time positions are available.

Internship Opportunities at LHS:

Marketing Intern

Lake Humane Society, a non-profit animal shelter, is looking for a qualified intern to work with their Development Department. LHS is seeking an intern who can assist with marketing, fundraising and other daily tasks. The intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, requiring a strong sense of organization and the ability to work autonomously. Interns will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of marketing. This position is unpaid.

Requirements

Lake Humane Society is looking for an undergraduate student seeking college credit in the field(s) of: Marketing, Communications, Fundraising and/or related fields. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be self-motivated and have the ability to work individually and as a team. Knowledge and experience with Excel, PowerPoint and Word are preferred. Intern must have a laptop and a DSLR camera is a plus but not required.


Events Intern

LHS is seeking an intern who can assist with event planning, promotion, fundraising and other daily tasks. The intern should be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in event planning and fundraising. This position is unpaid.

This position is unpaid.

Lake Humane Society is looking for an undergraduate or graduate student seeking college credit in the field(s) of: Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Nonprofit Development and/or related fields. This person should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be self-motivated and willing to work individually and with a team. Knowledge and experience with Excel, PowerPoint and Word are preferred. Would prefer that interns bring their own laptop but this is not required.
