The purpose of Humane Education is to promote kindness and respect to all living things, and to teach proper care for animals. In addition, valuable lessons on animal body language and how to behave around animals can help create a safer community for both animals and humans.
Everyday Lake Humane Society deals with the effects of an uneducated community. Whether it’s a member of the community needing to surrender an unwanted litter of kittens or a cruelty call regarding a dog whose owner neglected to get him medical treatment, there are many situations that can easily be prevented through providing information and education.
The goal of the Humane Education Program is to reach as many members of the community, of all ages, and teach them about the mission of LHS and other valuable animal-related issues. By providing information, we can help the public make educated decisions regarding animal welfare.
The Humane Education Program will work in conjunction with school lesson plans to help create programs that not only are informative but will also relate to the individual lessons being taught in the classroom. Programs will also be created around the needs of individual organizations to help provide a better understanding of how we can work together to create a better environment for animals and people.
