Lake Humane Society provides an Animal Rescue Hotline 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to assist the municipalities in Lake County, Ohio. This hotline will provide advice and support after shelter hours when stray companion animals are in need of help. If you find a stray pet that is in need of assistance or medical attention, please call your local police department. Our Animal Rescue Hotline will then serve as a resource to the police department as needed. Please note that here at Lake Humane Society we are not equipped to handle wildlife. Also, in the case of stray dogs, the Lake County Dog Warden should be contacted, unless the dog is injured, then Lake Humane Society assists.
If you have found an injured stray domestic animal during our regular business hours, please contact our shelter at (440) 951-6122. After regular business hours, please contact your local police department for assistance.
If you have found an injured wild animal, contact Lake Metroparks' Penitentiary Glen at (440) 256-2131. We are unable to assist with wildlife as our staff and volunteers do not have the proper training or equipment.
